One option is to take the 'do-it-yourself' route. Lots of
business supply stores carry specialty business card paper
that you can run through your laser printer. Be sure to
get the types of cards that don't show perforations!
And print in colour, if you can, to help your cards catch the
eye of the recipient. If you need someone to design a
professional card for you, graphic artists are available
for reasonable fees at freelance sites such as
this one.
The advantage of the do-it-yourself route is that once you
have a nice design, you can buy paper and print cards as
you need them. It's quick and easy.
Another affordable option is to use business card templates
and have your card professionally printed. One site I found
offers hundreds of templates to choose from. They also
offer 250 free business cards -- and it's a great offer,
but if you use it, be sure you spring for the extra few
bucks to remove the site's URL from the back side of the
card -- you want to promote your business, not theirs!
(if you like, you can also customize the back side for
a small fee).
NOTE: do a price comparison between ordering premium
business cards vs. the free business cards. I did so --
and found that the prices were similar after adding options
to the free offer such as a customized back side and a
logo. For a few extra bucks you can go to the premium
business card option and choose from hundreds of templates
not available in the free option.
You can also start with a blank card and upload your own
professionally-designed graphics instead. It's still cheap.
